Students reveal meaning behind tatoos

Tattoos are a controversial topic among the Christian community, but most people do not get a tattoo without having a meaning behind it. Here are some North Greenville students’ tattoos and the meanings behind them.

This is senior Ethan Clark. Clark’s tattoo is an indian headdress with lyrics that read, “You built your father’s tomb on my mother’s grave.” Clark got this tattoo as a reminder for Clark since he is in the army and is a reference to Manifest Destiny from America’s westward expansion. It is to remind Clark that when he goes to a foreign place, to step back and think before he acts because that place is not his home.

This is senior Jon Kesey. Kesey got this tattoo after his father passed away from brain cancer. When his dad was going through treatments, he would tell Jon no matter what happened, everything would be fine because we have been given the Holy Spirit to guide us. The dove represents the Holy Spirit and the straight line represents calm waters because wherever the Holy Spirit is, there is peace.
